When visiting Bilbao make time to see Plaza de Espana, a neoclassical square lined with porticos, which deserves a visit for its typical 19th century elegance. The Begona Basilica that overlooks the city and is accessible via the elevator from Calle Esperanza is interesting not only for the architecture of the church but also for the great views over Bilbao. Take a look at the Hanging Bridge also known as Puente Colgante that connects the two banks of the Nervion River.  Bilbao’s most impressive sight is certainly The Guggenheim Museum situated at the intersection of the Puente de la Salve Bridge and the Nervion River. The museum famous for the avant-garde architecture features the works of important modern artists such as Picasso, Robert Motherwell, Clyfford Still, Antony Tapies, Ives Klein and Andy Warhol.
