Lanzarote travel guide

Lanzarote, located just 70 miles off the African coast, is the easternmost of the Canary Islands. Like the other islands in the archipelago, Lanzarote is of volcanic origins and the repeated explosions during the 18th and 19th centuries are responsible for the lunar landscape which is typical of this place. The mild and dry climate all year round makes Lanzarote a favourite seaside destination through the year with temperatures ranging between 20 degrees centigrade in winter and 29 degrees in summer. Lanzarote features the world’s longest volcanic tunnel: the Atlantida Tunnel is 7 km long and includes the famous sites of La Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua. Lanzarote is not just about volcanic features, but also sandy beaches, palm trees, crystal clear water and characteristic architecture. The island is protected by strict construction planning rules that don’t allow big building structures and advertising boards cannot be found anywhere. Thanks to the constant light wind, Lanzarote is the ideal place to practice all types of water sports from surfing and sailing to kitesurfing and windsurfing.
