Tenerife travel guide

Tenerife, located in the Atlantic Ocean off the African coast, is the largest of the Canary Islands and also the most visited by tourists. Santa Cruz de Tenerife is its capital city and the second largest city in the archipelago. The island has dramatically different scenery from north to south. The southern part of the island is hotter and drier with a high concentration of tourist resorts such as La Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos. The stretch of coast between these two resorts, called Costa Adeja, comprises many world-class facilities and leisure opportunities such as good shops, golf courses, restaurants, water-parks, animal parks as well as an extremely happening nightlife. The southern coast is also good for lying on the sand, enjoying the sea and practicing water sports.
The northern part of the island is more lavish and green where Puerto de la Cruz is the only main tourist centre. The town is very picturesque having kept the old harbour town charm and is the perfect place for relaxing and taking long walks around the beautiful flower adorned streets and the enchanting countryside.
